Industry Trend Analysis - Commodities Exports Sustaining Construction Industry Expansion - FEB 2017

BMI View: Ongoing investment into deliver ing Mozambique ' s commodities to international markets will help to sustain infrastructure industry growth over our forecast period between 2017 and 2026, even as the government ' s fiscal woes weigh on the development of the wider construction market.

We continue to forecast positive growth for Mozambique's construction industry over our 10-year forecast period, stimulated by continued foreign investment in the country's vast coal and gas reserves. Over the short-to-medium term, the delivery of coking and thermal coal to international markets will underpin construction growth, through the upgrading of existing export infrastructure, including port and rail. Over the longer term, starting in the second half of our forecast period, the export of Mozambique's natural gas will provide the government with much-needed increased revenue to funnel into infrastructure development.
